SPE 191394: First Proppant Designed to Decrease Water Production

Note: This paper is made available by OnePetro at this link. Contact us at oilfield@hexion.com for more information.

Abstract:

This paper will introduce the first proppant specifically designed for fracturing treatments in high water cut reservoirs. Research was done on how proppant selection affects fracturing treatment results in shale formations that produce high water volumes. Fracturing treatments, proppant types, and post fracture treatment production results are examined in detail. A production case study that focuses on the impact of proppant selection in wells completed in formations that produce hydrocarbons with a high water cut was also be presented.

URTeC 2877667: Development of A High-Performance Cement Slurry Antifoamer Through Lab Evaluation and Field Trials

Note: This paper is made available by OnePetro at this link. Contact us at oilfield@hexion.com for more information.

Abstract:

Control of air entrainment in the cement slurry blending process is critical to cement slurry density, mixing adequacy, gas permeability, and pump cavitation avoidance. These factors have a direct impact on cement job quality. This paper documents the development and field trials of an antifoamer, which significantly improves cement quality and performance. Cement quality and performance are important to ensure proper well integrity and prevent contamination of fresh water aquifers. Field case studies are included to support laboratory test results using various antifoamers.

SPE 135502: Proppant Selection and Its Effect on the Results of Fracturing Treatments Performed in Shale Formations

Note: This paper is made available by OnePetro at this link. Contact us at oilfield@hexion.com for more information.

Abstract:

To better define what constitutes the most effective proppant for a particular application, field cases are presented that focus on the impact of proppant selection in a number of wells completed in various shale formations. The analysis examined the production history associated with a variety of proppant choices. In an effort to better understand the production results, a series of lab tests were performed on the proppants utilized in the field cases. These tests attempted to establish how factors such as proppant fines, cyclic stress, embedment, proppant flowback, and scaling could be used to explain and support the results of the field cases.

SPE 119545: Determining Propped Fracture Width from a New Tracer Technology

Note: This paper is made available by OnePetro at this link. Contact us at oilfield@hexion.com for more information.

Abstract:

A new tracer technology has been recently introduced and field tested. Resin coated proppants with a built-in tag are activated by a logging tool that not only identifies the location of the tagged proppant, but can also be used to develop other valuable information including propped fracture width. The test procedures and resulting data that contributed to the development of this new method to calculate propped fracture width are discussed.

SPE 109969: A New Environmentally Acceptable Technique of Determining Propped Fracture Height and Width

Note: This paper is made available by OnePetro at this link. Contact us at oilfield@hexion.com for more information.

Abstract:

A new technology that can generate valuable data on propped fracture height, as well as insight into propped fracture width is discussed. In this advanced technology, a non-radioactive tagging additive is incorporated into the resin coating of proppants.

White Paper

Using Long Term Conductivity Tests to Differentiate Products

Abstract:

It has become increasingly difficult to determine if one proppant is superior to another or whether they are in fact interchangeable. The "long term conductivity test" has been viewed as the ultimate measure of a product's performance properties, but is only a good method of comparison if all the factors are weighed.
